Grants

In response to a "Call For Proposals," eight grant proposals were submitted to Friends Of Armenia in November by Peace Corps Volunteers and their Armenian counterparts.

The Grants Committee has reviewed and evaluated them based on the criteria outlined in FOA's Grants Guidelines. Two applications were recommended to the Board of Directors for funding. They are:

Interactive Learning Classroom - Khot Village (near Goris): $1,000
Teachers at the Khot 2nd School want to creatively meet students' desires for greater intellectual stimulation by building an innovative learning space featuring educational games and art supplies, and incorporating modern teaching methodologies. [view proposal]
Science Fair - Kapan: $647
To better comply with new national academic requirements, biology teachers from Kapan's 10 schools will conduct three seminars to prepare students for the final presentation of hands-on lab/field experiments on April 16, 2010. [view proposal]

The full applications (in English and Armenian languages) for these projects can be accessed by the links on the left. Projects may change in small ways, according to the Grants Committee's suggestions.

Among the proposals submitted, additional projects have been identified for support and may be provided with funding if FOA's first fundraising campaign is successful. More details forthcoming.
